As you are aware, the situation that we currently face with the COVID-19 public health crisis is unprecedented. Over the last few weeks, we have seen this crisis escalate and each day the Government have introduced measures which will help combat the containment and spread of the virus, protect the NHS and ultimately save lives, but these measures will undoubtedly have a major impact on the economy as a whole and our respective businesses.

The British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) and the FLTA have sought clarity from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and it has been the clear opinion of all that whilst equipment remains in service that scheduled maintenance and, where relevant, statutory Thorough Examinations should be considered “Essential Ongoing Activity” that should not be obstructed or prevented in any way.
